Mental Health Essentials – Member Training Opportunity

CUPE Local 4731 members have the opportunity to apply for the Mental Health Essentials course through our affiliation with the Calgary & District Labour Council (CDLC).

Mental Health Essentials is a one-day virtual training designed to build practical mental health knowledge and skills. The program offers a strong foundation in Mental Health First Aid principles without formal assessment or certification, making it ideal for members seeking meaningful, time-efficient learning.

Participants Will:

  • Increase mental health awareness
  • Understand stigma, diagnostic labelling, and barriers to helping
  • Learn how to apply the ALGES framework
  • Develop effective communication techniques
  • Strengthen reflective self-awareness
  • Review mental health support and resource mapping
