CUPE Alberta Division Convention 2026 – Local 4731 Representation

From March 18–20, 2026, six members from CUPE Local 4731 attended the CUPE Alberta Division Convention in Edmonton, representing our Local alongside members from across the province.

The convention provided an opportunity to take part in important union business, engage in meaningful discussions, and participate in educational sessions that support the work we do within our workplaces and as a Local.

Beyond the formal business, the convention created space to connect with other CUPE members, share experiences, and learn from Locals across Alberta. It was especially impactful hearing others speak about Local 4731 and recognize the growth, engagement, and progress we’ve made over the past few years.

Our Local continues to expand its presence not only within Alberta, but also within CUPE National and the broader labour movement.

Local 4731 is also proud to have active representation within CUPE Alberta & CUPE National committees, including the Indigenous Committee, Young Workers Committee, and Social Services Sector Committee. In addition, our President served on the CUPE Alberta and CUPE National Convention Credentials Committee.

We also want to recognize Midun, who attended convention for the first time and shared how valuable and enjoyable the experience was.

As a Local, we are committed to continuing to create opportunities for members to attend conventions, conferences, and education sessions. These opportunities help build confidence, strengthen knowledge, and ensure members feel supported and empowered in their roles.

Members are encouraged to get involved by attending membership meetings or reaching out to learn more. With bargaining approaching across many of our workplaces, this is an important time to engage, build knowledge, and strengthen our collective voice.
