CUPE Local 4731 members have the opportunity to apply for the Mental Health Essentials course through our affiliation with the Calgary & District Labour Council (CDLC).
Mental Health Essentials is a one-day virtual training designed to build practical mental health knowledge and skills. The program offers a strong foundation in Mental Health First Aid principles without formal assessment or certification, making it ideal for members seeking meaningful, time-efficient learning.

Participants Will:
- Increase mental health awareness
- Understand stigma, diagnostic labelling, and barriers to helping
- Learn how to apply the ALGES framework
- Develop effective communication techniques
- Strengthen reflective self-awareness
- Review mental health support and resource mapping
